The Champaign County Forest Preserve District is planning its third annual River to Rail Ride on September 24, 2016 at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve in Penfield. The ride includes three routes, with distances of approximately 15, 32, and 67 miles.  All three routes begin and end at the forest preserve. Maps of the routes will be available online at www.kickapoorailtrail.com by September 15.  Register by Sept. 9 to get a T-shirt. Pre-registration costs $35 for any distance and includes lunch, until September 21, 2016.   Day of registration is $40. Online registration now available.

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District wants to thank Sarah Elm for designing the Kickapoo Rail Trail logo.

The Kickapoo Rail Trail will be a 24.5 mile multi-use recreational trail that runs from Urbana, Illinois to Danville, Illinois

The Kickapoo Rail Trail will be built by the Champaign County Forest Preserve District and the Vermilion County Conservation District.


Construction has started on the 6.7 miles from Main St., Urbana to Main St.,  St. Joseph.
